The original anime Expelled from Paradise will release theatrically in Japan on Nov. 15. This talked-about 3D CG work is a joint effort by Toei Animation and popular PC game developer Nitroplus. A trailer to the movie has now been released. Accompanying this, a new visual and additional cast members have been revealed. Appointed to the cast are veteran seiyū including Megumi Hayashibara and Minami Takayama.
Expelled from Paradise is gathering attention due to its unusual alliance between Toei Animation, one of the oldest animation companies, and Nitroplus, a popular PC game developer. Just what kind of story will take place? What will the animation look like? There are many questions to pique fans’ interest.
Directing the movie is Seiji Mizushima ( Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Fullmetal Alchemist ) and writing is Gen Urobuchi ( Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass ). These two phenomenal creators working together is another point that is already making headlines.
The newly released visual shows, of course, Angela Balzac, played by Rie Kugimiya, as well as the new characters. The visual shows Greek sculptures and statues of the gods, but gives no clues as to what kind of story it will be.
Also, gorgeous action scenes can be seen in the trailer released at the same time as the visual. Because it shows a portion of the story set in the virtual world and real world, it will increase anticipation for the movie’s release.
Furthermore, a 15-second commercial was shown during the broadcast of the TV anime Aldnoah Zero on July 5. A special 30-second version of the commercial was also shown after the anime’s first broadcast on Tokyo MX.
Joining the cast of the movie is Megumi Hayashibara of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Minami Takayama of Detective Conan, Kotono Mitsuishi of Sailor Moon, and Tōru Furuya of Mobile Suit Gundam. Look forward to a follow-up report to find out which characters these veteran seiyū will be playing.

Earth has been abandoned due to a nano hazard. After this, in the year 2400, the majority of humanity lives solely through their minds in a virtual world. Investigator Angela, one such person who lives in the virtual world, dons a powerful suit of armor and goes down to the planet’s surface for the first time. Along with Surface Investigator Dingo, she journeys to a world ruled by survival.
