Next, you’ll choose the tsuba. This part protects your hands from the blade. There are a variety of decorative elements to enjoy based on the different styles. There are eight different styles.
Next, you’ll choose the kashira. This part covers the bottom end of the hilt. Hilts are commonly made by putting together two pieces of wood, so the kashira is needed to keep these in place. There are three different styles.
Next, you’ll choose the kojiri. This part attaches to the tip of the saya. There are six different styles.
Next, you’ll choose the toushin. Toushin refers to the blade of a Japanese sword. You can choose from three different styles.
Finally, you’ll choose the sageo. This part helps keep your sword from being stolen by tying it to something like a kimono obi, or belt. When used as a display piece, it creates a strong decorative element.
Once you have finished choosing each part, press the “Order” button to proceed with the order.
If you are unsatisfied with the finished design of the sword, you can go back and select different parts as many times as you’d like.
2. Let’s take a look at a completed sword.
You’ve followed these steps and made your own sword. It’s a sword created by you, for you, that only you possess.
