Akame ga Kill! is a talked-about work that is serialized in the monthly magazine Gangan Joker (Square Enix) and for which an anime adaptation is in the works. It has now been announced that voice actress Sora Amamiya will play the role of main female character Akame.
Amamiya is currently playing her first main role in the TV anime One Week Friends which began airing earlier this month. She is a newcomer who will also play a main character in the anime Aldnoah Zero and Tokyo Ghoul to begin airing this summer.
Main character Akame is a brutal girl. She is a member of the assassin group Night Raid. Amamiya will bring plenty of charm to the role of this beauty of Night Raid, which brings punishment upon the evils of the depraved capital.
“Akame usually doesn’t change her expressions and comes across as disinterested, but she is a character who actually cares a lot for her comrades, and I think that is very charming so I want to hold onto these feelings as I play her,” said Amamiya on her impressions of the character. She also expressed her enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I am trying with all my power to be able to perform the fighting scenes in a cool way, so I appreciate your support!”
Syncing up with the announcement of Amamiya’s appointment as the voice of Akame, a new animation visual has been completed. The visual overflows with a sense of movement as Akame brandishes her Teigu Murasame over her head.
Akame ga Kill! is the creation of author Takahiro and illustrator Tetsuya Tashiro, and it began serialization in 2010. It has picked up huge support for the story by Takahiro who also brought to the world the huge hit game Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! and the fascinating characters by Tashiro. The first chapter of the original work and the spin-off Akame ga Kill! Rei are available to read on the manga’s official site. Look forward to information on the rest of the cast to come.
