The first episode of the TV anime Mekaku City Actors broadcast on April 12 at 24:00 on Tokyo MX, BS 11, and Nico Nico Douga. Kagerou Project is one of this spring’s hottest works and is a media mix project by creator Jin and Shaft, who created the anime adaptations of Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Bakemonogatari. Now, a specialty shop that sells goods from this series called “Kagerou Project Mekakushi Dan Koubaibu in Shinjuku Marui Annex” will be opening for a limited time. The store will be open from April 16 to May 7.

Kagerou Project Mekakushi Dan Koubaibu will likely pick up popularity from many fans due to it opening soon after the start of the TV anime. Look forward to a follow-up report on whether the store will have new products. The store will be open on the sixth floor event space of Marui Annex.

Kagerou Project is a drama in which characters who have mysterious “eye” powers help solve crimes and mysteries. Using a new approach in which the entire story is told through a wide range of media including music, novels, and manga, the series has acquired tremendous support from those in elementary and middle school. The series has caused a huge whirlwind, with over 25 million video views, 5.5 million books sold, and over 400,000 CDs and DVDs shipped out.

As for Mekaku City Actors, Jin is in charge of writing, series composition, and music production. A powerful staff has also been assembled that includes general director Akiyuki Shinbo, director Yuki Yase, and character designer Genichiro Abe. This grouping of creators who have created countless popular works is a vital point to take note of.
