The official site of the anime Ao Haru Ride, which will begin its TV broadcast in July, has reopened. A new key visual has also been released on the official site. The illustration is a straight-on shot of characters Futaba Yoshioka and Kou Mabuchi. It portrays the “close yet so far away” sense of distance between the two with pale coloring, and it overflows with the fresh and heartrending world of the original work.
The original work to Ao Haru Ride is a manga by Io Sakisaka that is currently serialized in Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret. Bringing this hit work to the world of anime is the tag team of young director Ai Yoshimura and series composer and writer Tomoko Konparu. Producing the animation is Production I.G, which is well regarded for adapting shoujo manga such as Kimi ni Todoke into anime.
Also, it has been revealed that Daisuke Hirakawa will join the cast as Youichi Tanaka, Kou’s older brother. Being not just his older brother, but also his teacher, he will watch over the growth of Kou and Futaba. Playing the main characters Futaba and Kou are Maaya Uchida and Hiroki Kaji, respectively. Other members of the wonderful cast include Ai Kayano as Yuuri Makita, Mikako Komatsu as Shuuko Murao, and Kenn as Aya Kominato.
In additional news, Volume 10 of Ao Haru Ride will be released on May 23. A limited version that also includes a drama CD is planned, so check this out along with new information on the anime.
