Makaku City Actors Illustration Contest Begins, Winning Works to Be Used in Each Episode’s ED

An end card illustration contest for Makaku City Actors began on Nico Nico Douga on March 8. The contest is being held to celebrate the anime adaptation of Makaku City Actors to begin broadcasting on April 12 at 24:00.

Makaku City Actors follows the members of the Makakushi Dan who possess strange abilities related to their “eyes” and must solve a mystery after getting caught up in an incident. The project originally began from the song “Artificial Enemy” posted online in 2011. Now, three years later, “Artificial Enemy” and the videos related to it have surpassed 25 million views. Even after being commercialized and released as music, novels, and manga, it is gaining extreme support from youth. The anime adaptation is a long overdo development for the series. Creating the anime is Shaft and directing is Akiyuki Shinbō, so anime fans as well are taking notice.

Works are being accepted for Episodes 1-11. Selecting the illustrations will be author and writer Jin as well as character planner Jizu. In addition to having their illustration used during the ending and having their name in the credits, winners will receive a cash prize as well as be presented with goods signed by Jin and Jizu.

First to be selected will be works for Episodes 1-3, then Episodes 4-7 in the second round, and finally Episodes 8-11 in the final round. The cutoff dates for all three rounds are March 31, April 30, and May 31, respectively. For fans following this in real-time, this is your chance to submit a work, so why not try applying?
