The Idolmaster Movie: To the Other Side of the Light! was released Japan-wide on Jan. 25 and is having a favorable start. On its first weekend, the movie received ¥1,498,769,000 in box office revenue, ranking at No. 3. The Idolmaster Movie is an animated work created around the concept of idols. The series, The Idolmaster, started as a type of “idol producing simulator” game in arcades, and it developed into various other media. An animated series is one of these and it became a hit. The anime is tied to this movie.
Because its concept is training idols, music is an important point in the series. For the movie, this includes the theme song “Masterpiece” sung by all the idols of 765 Pro, the opening theme “The Idolmaster,” the ending theme “Rainbow-Colored Miracle,” and many pieces of background music. There are likely many fans who have seen the movie, liked the theme song, and want to get it as soon as possible. In answer to these fans, Nippon Columbia released the single of the theme song on Jan. 29.
The CD comes as a first-run limited edition (CD + Blu-ray audio disc) for ¥1,800 and a regular edition (CD only) for ¥1,260 (Both prices include tax.). The CD includes the movie version and master version of “Masterpiece” and the song “Kimi ga Erabu Michi” sung by Kotori Otonashi (CV: Juri Takita). Furthermore, the Blu-ray audio disc contains all tracks in 5.1-channel TuneHD Dolby surround, 5.1-channel linear PCM surround, and linear PCM stereo. This disc also includes the songs “Nemuri Hime” by Chihaya Kisaragi, “Shiny Smile (Master Ver.)” by Haruka Amami and Hibiki Ganaha, and “Tr. 4 Music (Master Ver.)” by Chihaya Kisaragi and Azusa Miura.
Also, for fans who need more than just the theme song, it may be a good idea to soak yourselves in the movie with the official soundtrack to release on Feb. 5. This will come as a regular edition for ¥2,940 and a first-run limited edition for ¥3,500 (Both prices include tax.). It will include many songs such as “Ramune-Colored Youth (Short Ver.)” and the ending theme “Rainbow-Colored Miracle (Short Ver.),” both of which are the versions used in the movie. The Blu-ray audio disc included in the first-run limited edition will include mixed songs from the movie and background music in 5.1-channel audio.
