Hiro Mashima’s popular manga Fairy Tail, which is serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine is returning to TV once more. The broadcast of this reboot will begin this April on TV Tokyo and other networks. The anime adaptation of the work began in October 2009 and ran for three and a half years until March 2013. A movie titled Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess was released in August 2012. Each adaptation of the work has been extremely popular.
Due to the TV series going on hiatus in the middle of the Grand Magic Games arc, there are surely many fans who were worried if it would return. Now, not only is this long-awaited work returning, it’s returning as a relaunch of the series. While the story will pick up where it left off, even those who are just jumping into the series will be able to enjoy it. Differing from the previous anime, the relaunch is a tag team effort between A-1 Pictures and Bridge. On the staff side, Shinji Ishihira and Masashi Sogo will both reprise their roles as director and series composer, respectively. New to the staff is character designer Shinji Takeuchi who has worked on Gintama and Ixion Saga DT.
During the seven-year absence of Natsu and the others, Fairy Tail, which has become Fiore Kingdom’s weakest wizard guild, aims to win the Great Magic Games, a festival in which the strongest guild will be decided. The new anime will pick up at this point. A fight for the bonds between friends and a story of the wizard guilds is about to begin.
Currently, the staff is working hard to finish the anime. Look forward to even more information to come.
