A trailer is finally available for the film Buddha 2: Tezuka Osamu no Buddha - Owarinaki Tabi to be released countrywide in Japan on Feb. 8, 2014. The highlight of the trailer is the theme song “Pray” by Ayumi Hamasaki, which can be heard for the first time anywhere. The voices of the cast members––including Hidetaka Yoshioka who plays the main character Siddhartha, Sayuri Yoshinaga, Kenichi Matsuyama, Yōko Maki, and Nana Mizuki––can also be heard for the first time in the trailer. Take a peek at the story of this drama drawn on a grand scale.
“Pray” is a song that Ayumi Hamasaki was inspired to make after reading the original work and movie script. The lyrics link together Siddhartha’s emotions through his ever-troubling journey and Hamasaki’s prayers of happiness for those she loves. The song really increases anticipation for the film.
The trailer shows Siddhartha, who casts aside his kingship and sets out on a journey, grieving over the suffering and death of those around him. What is it that the young Siddhartha, who will later become Buddha “The Enlightened One,” find before the conflict sets it? The anticipation for the film’s 2014 release is only getting stronger.
Buddha is a manga that took Osamu Tezuka 10 years to create, and now it is being adapted into a film trilogy. The first film, Buddha: Tezuka Osamu no Buddha - Akai Sabaku yo! Utsukushiku, was released in Japan in 2011 and has gone on to release in over 30 countries.
For the second film as well, a wonderful seiyū cast has been appointed. This includes Hidetaka Yoshioka and Sayuri Yoshinaga from the previous film, as well as new faces like Kenichi Matsuyama and Yōko Maki who are worth taking note of.
Directing the film is Toshiaki Komura who worked as series director on Yes! PreCure 5. Continuing from the last film, the writer once again is Reiko Yoshida who is known from hit series such as K-On.
