Florie, a French reporter for the YouTube channel Deep In Japan, met the girls from the Black Diamond group to get a Japanese gyaru makeover. But what exactly is a gyaru?
A gyaru is a Japanese girl that has a unique fashion, usually with dark tanned skin, heavy makeup, crazy hair colors and very long nails decorated with shiny objects. This fashion trend started in the ‘70s and became very popular in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Florie went to meet one of the last popular gyaru groups in Tokyo, and had the chance to get a complete makeover. They start by darkening her skin…
…then work around the eyes, lips, hair. They even gave Florie some gyaru-style clothes!
