Witch Craft Works First Broadcast Date and Special Screening Announced

Broadcast information for the TV anime Which Craft Works has been announced. The anime will first begin broadcasting on Tokyo MX on Jan. 5, 2014.

Ahead of the broadcast, an advance screening event called “Kagari’s Scent and…” will be held at Cinemart Shinjuku on Dec. 29. In addition to the first episode being screened, there will also be a discussion segment with the cast. Appearing for the event will be Yūsuke Kobayashi (Honoka Takamiya), Asami Seto (Ayaka Kagari), and Ai Kayano (Kasumi Takamiya). Leading the event will be Shiori Izawa (Tanpopo Kuraishi). A special live performance by the musical group Fhana, who perform the anime’s opening theme, will also be held. Due to the discussion and singing, this is likely to be a crowded screening event.

It’s been said that, following the name of the event, a gimmick that allows attendees to experience a scent created after the heroine Kagari will be prepared. This is also something to look forward to. Pre-reservations for tickets began on Dec. 1. Each ticket costs ¥2,000 (tax included) and only two tickets can be ordered per person.

The anime Witch Craft Works is based on a manga of the same name by Ryū Mizunagi that is currently serializing in Good! Afternoon (Kodansha). It has picked up popularity for being a new kind of school love comedy depicting incidents involving over 30 witches.

Directing the anime is Tsutomu Mizushima who is known for his work on Crayon Shin-chan: The Storm Called: The Kasukabe Boys of the Evening Sun and Girls und Panzer. Mizushima holds a diverse range of experience in adapting manga to anime, including xxxHolic and Big Windup. In addition to directing, he is also the series composer and writer, so his abilities in these areas are also worth keeping an eye on.
