Sculptor Takayuki Takeya who is known for, among other things, the poseable Buddhist figure series “Revoltech Takeya” is utilizing the crowdfunding site Kickstarter to collect funds for a new product.
If the funding for the project to create a new version of Takeya’s “Nikunekamui” intended for overseas fans is successful, he will be able to deliver to those who supported the project a Kickstarter-exclusive version of the statue.
Nikunekamui is a word that means demon in Ainu. The statue captures the essence of the time-honored Japanese culture from the Jōmon and Yayoi periods on each half of its face, which is coupled with a characteristically intense demonic expression. The prototype of the statue is characterised by its vivid colors.
If the project is not successful, production of this statue will not come to fruition, so those who are interested should consider lending their support.
