Since June, the first part of Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Border:1 Ghost Pain, has been screened in theaters, released on video, and released online. Now, it will finally be broadcast on TV. The broadcast times are Nov. 20 at 23:00 on BS11 and Nov. 30 at 19:00 on Tokyo MX. Part 2, Border:2 Ghost Whispers, will release in theaters on Nov. 30, in time with this broadcast. The aim of the TV broadcast is to broaden interest in the series that will carry over to Border:2 and beyond. A trailer of Border:2 will also be shown during the TV broadcast of Border:1. It might be a good idea to check this out before going to the theater to see Border:2.
Also, it has been revealed that an online screening event for Border:2 will take place before it is released in theaters. This first chance to see the movie will take place on Nov. 22. It’s a chance for fans to enjoy the newest part of the series from the comfort of their home. The online screening will be free, and those who want to witness it can register to do so on Hikari TV or Bandai Channel. However, the number of viewers is limited to 2,100. How to register and information on the time of the screening can be found on each site.
Ghost in the Shell: Arise is an anime based on Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell series. Kazuchika Kise, an animator who has been widely active in the series to date, is the director and character designer of this new-age four-part miniseries. Series composition and writing is being handled by sci-fi writer Tow Ubukata. The casting is also new, with Maaya Sakamoto, the voice of Mari Illustrious Makinami in Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, chosen as the main character Motoko Kusanagi. The story delves into Kusanagi’s past and depicts the events leading up to her becoming a member of Section 9. Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border:2 Ghost Whispers will be released on Nov. 30 at Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills and 23 other theaters Japan-wide.
