Since it began broadcasting earlier this month, the anime Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova has become popular for its female characters that are personified “Mental Models” of battleships. Now, a music clip of the characters Iona, Takao, and Haruna dancing has surfaced online. The ending theme “Blue Field,” sung by the vocal unit Trident which is comprised of members of the cast, began airing with Episode 2, and it has already caused a huge stir. The music clip is complementary to this song, which will be released as a single on Oct. 30. A short version of the music clip using the same song has also been released. Similar to the anime, this dance video uses 3D CG modeling.
Trident is a three-person vocal unit comprised of Mai Fuchigami (Iona), Manami Numakura (Takao), and Hibiku Yamamura (Haruna). The music clip features these three singing the ending theme while 3D CG models of their characters dance to it. The 3D CG has been used to full effect, as it also is in the anime. The anime is being produced by Sanjigen, the same studio that was bathed in attention and acclaim for using 3D CG with a cel touch in the film 009 Re:Cyborg. It is also known that the studio has worked on the ending dance scene in the PreCure series as well. They have once again expanded their techniques with this new music clip.
On Oct. 30, the opening theme and ending theme to Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova will go on sale simultaneously. As a bonus, each one will include an advance pre-order lottery ticket for a live event to take place on Dec. 1. It seems that fans can look forward to collaborations between the characters and seiyū at this event. The first volume of the Blu-ray and DVD of the anime will go on sale on Dec. 27.
