The movie Patema Inverted will be released to theaters in Japan on Nov. 9. Even though its release is more than a month away, various news related to the movie has been revealed.
First are details on the Japan premiere of the movie that will take place at the Tokyo International Film Festival, an announcement that was made just the other day. The country’s first screening of the movie will take place on Oct. 24 at Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills. A stage greeting will also take place on this day beginning at 4 p.m. with the movie screening beginning at 4:45 p.m. General tickets cost 2,000 yen, advance tickets for students cost 1,500 yen, and tickets for students at the door cost 500 yen. Tickets will go on sale on Ticket Board on Oct. 5.
Also, manga and novel versions of the work that will tie-in with the movie will go on sale. The manga version, which is based on the original work by director Yasuhiro Yoshiura, is drawn by popular illustration Toi8. The story follows Mikko who decides for herself to see the other world that her late grandfather dreamed of. The first volume will be released by Square Enix (Big Gangan Comics) on Oct. 25. The novel, written by Manabu Wakui, will tell the story of Age and Patema from director Yoshiura’s original work. The first volume of this will be released by Shogakukan Bunko on Oct. 8.
Furthermore, an exhibit for Patema Inverted and Patema Inverted: Another Side will open on Nov. 7 at Pixiv Zingaro in Nakano Broadway, Tokyo. On display will be setting materials and storyboard drawings created by Yoshiura as well as production documents from each member of the staff. The exhibit will be full of precious original illustrations and art. Reproduced illustrations by Toi8 from Patema Inverted: Another Side will also be on display. The exhibit is being held for those fans who want a deeper understanding of the work.
It seems easy to say that Patema Inverted is a work that can be enjoyed not just as a movie, but as other forms of entertainment as well this autumn.
