Tamayura is a long-running series that began with an OVA in 2010 that depicts the everyday life and growth of female high schooler Fu who loves photography. A four-part conclusion to the series, Tamayura: Graduation Photos, began screening this year. Part 3 of the series, Yearning, will finally be released in Japan on Nov. 28. There are likely many fans curious about what will happen to Fu from here on. Ahead of the release, a new trailer has been posted. About a minute and a half long, it’s filled with the latest visuals from the movie and gives plenty to raise anticipation.
Tamayura: Graduation Photos is themed after third-year high school students Fu and her friends. All four of the movies follow their last year of high school. Part 3 will focus primarily on Maon who can’t decide on a dream. It will also depict Fu’s trembling heart, as she was supposed to have prepared for her dream.
An important setting in the movie will be the event “Shoukei no Michi” (Road of Yearning) held in Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture, which has been depicted in the series several times to date. Since the “Road of Yearning” has even collaborated with the series frequently, aside from being part of the story, this movie will likely be a deeply interesting episode for fans and those in Takehara. We can likely expect visuals and production elements that fit right in with Tamayura.
The production staff stays the same this time, with Junichi Sato as original planner, director, and series composer. It’s likely safe to say the film tetralogy is the representative work of Sato, who has directed the entirety of the series as well as acted as original planner and series composer. The theme song “Kore Kara” sung by Maaya Sakamoto is a highlight as well.
The release date of the concluding fourth part of Tamayura: Graduation Photos that fans have been curious about has also been confirmed. The movie will be released on Feb. 20, 2016, which fits with graduation season in Japan. Since to date the season in the series has matched the actual season during its theatrical run, there’s a large possibility the climax of the movie will have to do with graduation.
