The TV anime BlazBlue: Alter Memory, based on the hugely popular fighting series BlazBlue, will begin its broadcast run on Oct. 8 on Tokyo MX and other networks. Even before the anime has begun, the release of the first Blu-ray and DVD has been announced. The release date has been set at Dec. 25.

The first volume Blu-ray and DVD will include Episodes 1 and 2. There will also be a limited edition of the Blu-ray. The package for this is a design drawn exclusively by the producer of the original game series, Toshimichi Mori. Furthermore, as a special bonus, download codes will be included for stages and background music for the PS3 game BlazBlue: Chronophantasma set to release on Oct. 24. Fans will also be able to enjoy an enclosed DVD that features “BlueRaji Special Compilation.” BlueRaji is a wildly popular web radio program distributed on Nico Nico Douga that has surpassed 20 million views. We wonder what kind of talk will unfold on the DVD among the familiar cast members. In addition to this, other content such as a priority ticket registration card for an event and a postcard of the end credit illustration will also be included. The limited edition Blu-ray will cost 7,140 yen (tax included).

Regular editions of the Blu-ray and DVD will also go on sale at the same time. These will cost 5,040 yen and 3,990 yen, respectively (Each price includes tax.). Volumes 2 through 6 will be released one per month beginning in January 2014.

The director of BlazBlue: Alter Memory is Hideki Tachibana of Dragon Crisis! fame. The stellar voice cast of the anime is comprised of the same cast from the games, including Tomokazu Sugita as Ragna and Kanako Kondō as Noel.
