Super Sonico, Nitroplus’ beautiful concert mascot girl created in 2006, is getting her own anime called SoniAni - Super Sonico the Animation. This exciting news surprised many fans when it was suddenly announced at Nitro Super Sonic 2013 held at the Tokyo International Forum on Sept. 21. Nitroplus is a prominent company in the game software and character worlds, expertly creating games for its core fanbase. These include Phantom: Phantom of Inferno, Kikokugai, Full Metal Daemon: Muramasa, and others. Nitro Super Sonic 2013 was a festival for fans to enjoy music and videos related to the company’s deep lineup of works. For such a big event, there was an equally big present for fans in store.
Super Sonico was created in 2006 and originally designed by Santa Tsuji. She is an image character for the company, but she is used in a surprising breadth of areas. In addition to CDs released of the three-piece band Daiichi Uchuu Sokudo, which Sonico is the vocalist of, she also stars as the main character in the Windows game SoniComi. There have also been many manga and figures created after her, as well as many collaborations between her and other games and companies. Flying past just Nitroplus, Sonico is a popular character in the world of bishojo goods.
Now, Sonico’s momentum is finally propelling her to the TV screen. On Sept. 21, a teaser site for the anime opened and the official Twitter of the anime went live. However, information on the anime including staff, cast, and broadcast times is still unknown. This forthcoming information will be announced on the official site and Twitter. It seems fans are showing huge excitement over the anime of this largely popular character.
