The new anime Galilei Donna will begin broadcasting on Oct. 10 during Fuji TV’s anime programming block, noitaminA. The work is an original anime by director Yasuomi Umetsu, who is widely known even overseas for such action works as A Kite.
The anime’s main cast has now been announced. Additionally, a PV showing scenes from the anime along with the theme songs has been released and details on this mysterious work have been revealed.
The main characters are three sisters who have inherited the blood of Galileo Galilei, and each one is voiced by a popular seiyū. Chosen for these roles are Rina Hidaka as Hozuki, Rumi Ōkubo as Kazuki, and Kei Shindō as Hazuki. We wonder how these three will play these completely different sisters. Additional cast members include Marina Inoue as Anna Hendrix, Taiten Kusunoki as Roberto Materazzi, Hiroshi Kamiya as Cicinho, Rikiya Koyama as the father of the three sisters, and Houko Kuwashima as the mother of the three sisters. Each of these seiyū also possess both popularity and ability.
Seemingly a work themed around Galileo Galilei, the anime contains various unique aspects along with battle action, as shown through scenes in the PV. The anime’s theme songs are also used as the background music in the PV. This is the first time that the opening theme “Syncro Manika” by Negoto and the ending theme “Innocent” by Earthmind can be heard. Many anime broadcast on noitaminA also gather attention due to their theme songs, so it seems that this can be expected for Galilei Donna as well.
Beginning with director Umetsu, a splendid lineup of staff have been assembled including Shingo Adachi of Sword Art Online fame as the character designer and chief animation director and Hideyuki Kurata, known from the R.O.D series and for depicting female characters in a fascinating way, as the scriptwriter. The anime is being produced by A-1 Pictures.
