A Young Boy’s Lies and Truth: Video Introduction to Chapter 2 of the Manga The Seven Deadly Sins!

This time, we’d like to introduce Chapter 2 of the manga The Seven Deadly Sins.

Meliodas used to be one of the members of the Seven Deadly Sins, the strongest of groups who committed the grave crime of trying to overthrow the kingdom. He is currently the proprietor of the Boar Hat bar. Also in his employ is a popular waitress named Elizabeth Lyonesse who happens to be the third princess of the Kingdom of Lyoness. One day, they travel together to a plaza in a certain village.

The plaza is crowded with people. When they ask the locals why, they are told it’s because a Holy Knight got fed up with a young boy’s antics and thrust his magic-imbued sword into the ground, cutting off the village’s underground water supply. Now, everyone in the village is trying to dislodge the sword, which has been thrust into the ground with superhuman strength.

The boy who upset the Holy Knight is named Mead. He is a prankster who is always telling lies and causing trouble for the villagers. Even on that day, he lied to the villagers, saying, “My friend is a member of the Seven Deadly Sins. He can pull out the sword for us.”

Meliodas and Elizabeth take Mead back to the Boar Hat and ask him what he did to cause the Holy Knight to become upset, to which Mead replied, “It’s because he made fun of the beer the villagers put their all into making.” He also explained his reason for lying about having a friend who is one of the Seven Deadly Sins: “Because those who chase down the evil Holy Knights are good guys.” In the end, it turns out that Mead is a young boy with a good heart, he’s just misguided.

Meanwhile, the villagers realize the true reason behind Mead actions against the Holy Knight, but a group of knights subordinate to the Holy Knights show up and proclaim, “If you can’t pull out the sword by sundown, we’ll increase the village’s tax by 10 times.” All the villagers, including Mead, try desperately to pull the sword from the earth, but to no avail. At this rate, the village will be ruined. Will a savior of this village appear in time?!
