The private preview for “Angel Project Presents - Hatsune Appearance: Summer Festival Hatsune Style” was held at Bellesale Akihabara on Aug. 20 and sponsored by the four companies that constitute the Hatsuapi Natsu production committee, including Crypton Future Media and ASCII Media Works.
During this preview, five songs out of 20 in total including “Unhappy Refrain” and “Sugar Bits” were screened. They hired freelance video makers and creators who publish Vocaloid works on Nico Nico Douga who created the visuals for the songs using the 3D movie making software, MikuMikuDance. The concept of this event is that Miku is a young girl who falls from the moon and becomes stained by the world, but gradually becomes closer to being human. In accordance with that concept, her motions projected on-stage and her voice also gradually becomes more lively. The way she bends her legs, her twin tails, or the way her skirt floats in mid-air are so natural they are a must-see for fans. During the preview, Kz’s song “Tell Your World” was also featured, showing a high-quality performance of lights and sound produced by virtual space and a Vocaloid.
Coordinating producer Fukuoka commented that, “Until today’s performance, I listened to roughly 6,000 or 7,000 vocaloid songs until I could choose those fitting into the concept.” He also revealed that for creating Miku and the others, they used techniques from Japanese puppet theater and that they had to make adjustments until just prior to the preview. This concert will run for nine days from Aug. 21-29, with four performances each day (except for 24 and 25, on which there will be five). One performance is about 90 minutes long.
Miku and the others look so natural, it feels like you could touch them if you reached your hand. Fans are sure to go crazy with enthusiasm over these concerts.
