Live2D Cubism allows you to make your own illustrations and 2D game visuals move. A contest is being held called the Live2D Creative Award 2014, which invites submissions of videos and interactive media created using this next generation 2D expression graphic tool.
The contest, for which Tokyo Otaku Mode is also offering support, aims to explore the possibilities of Live2D Cubism and Live2D Cubism SDK and cultivate the next generation of three-dimensional expression in a two-dimensional form. In keeping with this concept, pieces will be selected based on their use of Live2D’s special features and possibilities and that emphasize the 2D qualities of the work.
Live2D Cubism software is required for entry, but contest participants can use a trial version of Cubism Editor PRO for free, so those without the software can still take part. Participants can use either an original 2D illustration or the provided Hatsune Miku Live2D Model. Entries will be accepted up through June 1, 2014 (Japan time), so everyone should take a stab at it.
The Grand-Prix winner will received 100,000 yen (approx. 1,000 USD) and a Wacom Intuos Pro Medium pen tablet. In addition to this, there are the Creative Award (two people), the Crypton Future Media Award (two people) and the Unity Innovation Award (one person), as well as prizes for finalists and special offers for all participants.
