The intuitive advice was useful for the theoretical Rei!
The outdoor pool of Iwatobi High School is open for practice again. Haruka jumps into the pool without listening to what anyone has to say, and Makoto and Nagisa try to teach Rei, who can’t swim. Gō asks Haruka, “What do you swim for?” but Haruka is indifferent.
The scene changes to Samezuka Academy, and we can see Rin swimming recklessly. In order to properly defeat Haruka, he engulfs himself in practice.
Nagisa tries to teach the breaststroke to Rei, and Makoto tries to teach backstroke, both with little luck. On a rainy day, they hold a “Everyone, let’s think about why Rei can’t swim” meeting at Haruka’s house. They call on Sasabe Goro, a former coach of the swimming club, and ask him to teach Rei how to swim, but he turns them down right away.
Rei arbitrarily decides that the reason he can’t swim is because of the swimming suit, and they go to buy swimming suits together. Then, Rin, who also happened to be looking for swimsuits, bumps into Haruka and he demands an explanation on what Haruka was doing until now. At the end of the quarrel, Rin leaves saying that they should have a match during the prefectural tournament.
Turning over a new leaf, Rei tries swimming in his new swimsuit...but still no luck. He is feeling down, but Haruka gives him some advice: “Don’t think that you want to swim, jump.” The next day, there is the figure of a person in the pool, swimming in butterfly! For some reason, Rei was able to do butterfly strokes, which he hadn’t tried before. So Haruka’s advice worked...the swimming club gained a new member.
Although the days of the five members of Iwatobi High’s Swimming club are drawn in a comical way, it is a good story where they go on and clear the problems one by one. The four are coming closer and closer to participating in a relay together.
