Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, an anime that picked up popularity when it was broadcast for three months beginning earlier this year in April, will be distributed as a non-stop marathon on Nico Nico Live. The broadcast will begin on Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. (JST). The marathon will include not only the 13 televised episodes, but also an untelevised OVA called “Abandoned Fleet.” Fans will not want to miss this.
The OVA “Abandoned Fleet” is a bonus video that will be included in the first volume of the Blu-ray box for Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet that will be released on Aug. 28. A highlight of the OVA is the appearance of new characters Storia and Ritonaa. The voice stars for these characters are Yui Horie and Yuichi Nakamura, respectively. The regular members are also present in the OVA, but its focus is revealing Ridget’s past. This lightly strange story follows Ridget as a 15 year old. A trailer for the OVA has also been released on the official site. Fans will be awaiting the OVA even more after seeing this trailer.
The price of the first volume Blu-ray box to be released on Aug. 28 is 16,800 yen (tax included). In addition to the included bonus OVA “Abandoned Fleet,” the Blu-ray box also comes with the non-credit opening for episode 1 and a special drama CD that comes with a special CD book called “Gargantia Logbook (1).” This 100-page book features a front cover exclusively drawn by Hanaharu Naruko, a comic, and more. This box is rounded out with a specially written short story, storyboard collection, illustrated card collection, and commentary.
The staff commentary for episode 1 includes director Kazuya Murata, series composer and scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi, and producer Nao Hirasawa. The commentary is led by anime critic Ryōta Fujitsu. On the other hand, the cast commentary for episode 1 features Kaito Ishikawa (Ledo), Hisako Kanemoto (Amy), and Katsuyuki Konishi (Pinion). Also, episode 3 features special, not to be missed commentary from a discussion panel. Members for this include Ken Okawara from Bandai Visual, Mitsuhisa Ishikawa from Production I.G, Tarō Deji from Nitroplus, Hiroaki Kakuda from YTE, Kanori Akita from Good Smile Company, and Takaaki Kidani from Bushiroad.
Three new episodes have been compiled onto the auditory bonus special drama CD: “Amy, Melty, and Saaya’s Girls Talk Tea Party,” “Chamber Support Education Room - Ledo,” and “Space Boy and the Tin Plate Rascal - Space Comedy.” Surely fans will be able to enjoy the anime in a different way with these episodes.
