“Cyborg 009 USA Edition” Releases Simultaneously in America and Japan, Image Song Also Releases

With the release of the 3D CG film 009 Re:Cyborg late last year, the popularity of the sci-fi series Cyborg 009 is unceasing. This year, the work has been reimagined once again as an American comic. On July 19, the long-awaited Cyborg 009: USA Edition was released in America and Japan simultaneously. A digital version of the comic was also released. The comic is poised to become a much-discussed work that crosses over international borders.

An image song for Cyborg 009: USA Edition has also been created. That song is “Seeds” by the artist Lyu:Lyu. Appropriately enough, digital distribution of this song began on iTunes and other music services on July 17, right before the release of the comic. This unusual experiment of having an image song attached to a comic is being carried out to further spread the world of the American comic that is based on Shotaro Ishinomori’s Japanese masterpiece sci-fi manga Cyborg 009. The song will further liven up this reimagining.

Cyborg 009 USA Edition is available in both Japanese and English. The Japanese version is available from Shogakukan Shueisha Productions (ShoPro), and the English version is available from Archaia. In addition, the digital English version is being distributed by the American industry leader, comiXology. The work is a 120-page volume with 105 full-color pages and additional production pages. It was written by F.J. Desanto and Bradley Cramp and illustrated by Marcus To – all well-known names in the world of American comics. Desanto and Cramp are also producers who work on movies and documentaries, while To is famous for illustrating such series as Red Robin, Huntress, and The Flash. Cyborg 009 USA Edition features a story of struggle for the well-known cyborgs told from an entirely new point of view.

It will be interesting to see how this American comic version of this beloved classic increases its popularity throughout the world.
