On Aug. 31, the animated movie Anohana the Movie will release in Japan. Two days before this on Aug. 28, the original soundtrack for the movie will be released. At the same time, a specially packaged LP for the ending theme “Secret Base - Kimi ga Kureta Mono,” titled Secret Base - Kimi ga Kureta Mono - 12 Years After Special Package, will also go on sale. The soundtrack will cost 2,625 yen, while the specially packaged LP will cost 1,575 yen (both prices include tax). From the music side as well, attention for this movie will increase leading up to its release.
Aside from rearranged songs from the TV series, the original soundtrack to the movie will include seven new songs, vocals used for the trailers, and a bonus track. The 2-disc set will also come with a three-sided sleeve as a limited bonus. Remedios’ music will once again fascinate as it expresses the world of the work.
The song “Secret Base - Kimi ga Kureta Mono” by the girl band Zone became a hit when it was released in 2001. Two years ago, the song was used for the TV anime to Anohana to the surprise of many fans. “Ten years ago in August” rings as a memorable phrase from the song which surely took on new meaning when the song was adopted for the anime, bringing with it new popularity that is still fresh in mind.
The 12 Years After Special Package LP was created to sync up with the release of the movie. What has caught attention is that it is a LP-size special package. Similarly to the TV series, the song is sung by three characters: Honma Meiko (CV: Ai Kayano), Anjo Naruko (CV: Harun Tomatsu), and Tsurumi Chiriko (CV: Saori Hayami).
The package illustration for the LP was exclusively drawn by character designer Masayoshi Tanaka. The idyllic scene that evokes feelings of nostalgia perfectly represents Anohana.
