The Garden of Words picture app even includes music created just for the occasion by Kashiwa Daisuke.
A picture app based on director Makoto Shinkai’s hit work The Garden of Words is available now. Releases to date in this app series for enjoying the worlds of director Shinkai’s works include 5 Centimeters Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and The Place Promised in Our Early Days. Part four of this series, The Garden of Words, allows users to fully enjoy the beautiful artwork from this hit 2013 film in the palm of their hand. Aside from artwork, there are also two songs created exclusively for the app by Kashiwa Daisuke. Shinkai fans will be happy with the app’s content.
The Garden of Words was released in May 2013, after which it received rave reviews both in Japan and overseas, winning such awards as the Grand Prix at the 2014 Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film. The new app collects together a prime selection of beautiful screenshots of the movie. Though other works by Shinkai have been developed as apps, this app has the largest volume of any released so far, with over 200 pictures. Because the artwork is arranged to follow the story, users can get a sense of the story of these two who have repeated rendezvous amid backdrops of beautifully drawn rainy scenes while enjoying it.
The app also allows for easily viewing pictures from a group of thumbnails as well as a slideshow for viewing the artwork from the beginning of the story. Another point to delight fans is that you can save your favorite artwork to an album and set it as a screensaver or wallpaper. The app also includes exclusive background music created by Kashiwa Daisuke. Adding even more color to the movie’s world are the songs “Tears of Swan” and “Melancholy Rain.”
In addition to all this, the app is also loaded with a clock function, meaning you can use it not just as an app of collected artwork but also as a desk clock. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play in both Japanese and English. The price is ¥360 (tax included).
