The J-pop specialist DJ Kazu, who is known for J-Anison Kamikyoki Matsuri, an anime song (anison) mix CD series that has sold a cumulative total of 130,000 copies, performed at Anime Festival Indonesia 2013 which was held in the capital Jakarta on Sept. 7 (Sat) and 8 (Sun).
Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2013 is the biggest Japanese pop culture event in Southeast-Asia that was first held in Singapore in 2008. In 2012, it was also held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia, so this is its second time in Indonesia. There was a performance at the main hall at night, and DJ Kazu, besides appearing in the opening on the 7th, DJ’ed songs from various categories at the enormous DJ booth with 24 large speakers in front of the entrance. During the two days, he performed for more than 10 hours altogether.
The local audience was just as well-versed in anime as Japanese anime fans, and they were loudly cheering for DJ Kazu as he rapidly spun out song after song. On the night of the last day, when DJ Kazu put on “Secret Base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~ (10 years after ver.),” the audience turned into a big chorus and chanted “Honma Meiko (Ai Kayano), Anjou Naruko (Haruka Tomatsu), Tsurumi Chiriko (Saori Hayami)” in Japanese, giving an illusion as if they were in Japan. DJ Kazu is still getting warm messages from Indonesian people on his Facebook and Twitter.
As mentioned in the previous report, DJ Kazu will release J-Anison Kamikyoki Matsuri - Paradise, the third part of J-Anison Kamikyoki Matsuri on Oct. 2. He will probably have these discs at hand when performing at anime festivals and events, so those of you who are interested, don’t forget to check.
