An exhibit titled “Hokkaido Big Manga Exhibit” is being held now at the Sapporo Art Museum in Hokkaido until Sept. 8. The exhibit features pictures from manga artists and anime creators related to Hokkaido on display.
With the background of those born in Hokkaido who are splendidly active even in the field of animation, the exhibit features works from 70 creators of anime and manga lined up all in one place.
In recent years, almost everyone reads manga, and manga has become recognized as a part of pop culture. There are a countless number of manga artists and works associated with Hokkaido. The “Hokkaido Big Manga Exhibit” is being held to gather and display works from creators born in or living in the region of Hokkaido, from stars of old to current hitmakers. These include manga artists Hiromu Arakawa ( Silver Spoon ), Keisuke Itagaki ( Baki the Grappler ), and Shin Takahashi ( Saikano ), and animation creators Satoshi Kon ( Millenium Actress ), Mebae ( Tailenders ), and Atsuya Uki ( Cencoroll ).
This exhibit offers a unique chance to see in one place drawings from the masters of the region next to those from vigorous, young creators. Beat the heat this summer and cool down while enjoying the full lineup of talent at the “Hokkaido Big Manga Exhibit.”
