The news of the anime adaptation for Knights of Sidonia was announced in May. Now, staff information, a key visual, and the first PV have been released. The teaser site has also opened.
The anime is based on Tsutomu Nihei’s popular sci-fi manga of the same name that is currently serialized in the magazine Monthly Afternoon. The tenth volume of the manga is also currently available for purchase.
Notably, Polygon Pictures is producing the anime. They are a top-class 3D CG production company in Japan and have won numerous awards for their CG anime on various works including Transformers Prime and Tron: Uprising. The great number of talented creators selected as the main staff include director Kobun Shizuno ( Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea ), series composer and screenwriter Sadayuki Murai ( Steamboy ), and character designer Yuki Moriyama ( Street Fighter x Tekken ).
