Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya, the supposed conclusion to the Gintama anime, will be released in Japan on July 6. While the movie is being touted as the genuine conclusion to Gintama, nothing official has been released to validate this. There are no doubt many fans waiting in wonder about just what will happen in this movie. On June 1, a small piece of this puzzle was revealed. A trailer for Be Forever Yorozuya is now available to watch, and it gives hints to the movie’s story.
During its roughly one and a half minutes, the trailer shows Gintoki, who is thrown into a future world in which he doesn’t exist. There, Gintoki and his friends, who have completely changed, witness the collapse of Edo before their eyes. Shinpachi is a young man who wields a wooden sword with the words “Lake Touya” written on the hilt and gallantly kicks down thugs. Kagura is a beautiful woman who takes a giant dog along with her and wears a China dress in the same print as Gintoki’s casualwear. The two are at odds with each other over who will be the successor to Yorozuya. With their old home now lifeless and the signboard having fallen off, as well as the uniformless Shinsengumi, what the heck is happening in this world? The mystery deepens. Whether good or bad, this trailer was designed to raise interest in the movie.
This trailer is now available on the movie’s official site, and it also begun screening in theaters in Japan beginning on June 1. Because it’s packed with information even though it’s short, it’s enjoyable to watch over and over again and speculate as to how the movie will play out.
The TV anime Gintama is based on Hideaki Sorachi’s manga that began in 2006. For this movie, Sorachi put his all into it, being in charge of both the story and character drafts. Just what kind of conclusion will the movie come to? Definitely make sure to see it for yourself.
