The Pinoy Otaku Festival 2013 “Pinoy Super Heroes Arise” will be held on May 24 and 25 in the Starmall EDSA-Shaw at the Starmall Trade Hall of Mandaluyong City, Manila, Philippines. Tickets are available the day of the event for 120 pesos per day. Each day is packed with activities for attendees to enjoy!
On May 24, the Asia Music Festival, a karaoke competition, iDate Dance Fest, and Battle of the Bands will be held. Also, the Otaku Choice Awards will be held that evening. Categories include Best Anime, Best Anime Character, Best Console Game, and more. The winners are decided by votes received prior to the award ceremony by Filipino citizens.
On May 25, a group cosplay competition and the finals of the Otaku Encore Cosplay Idol will be held. Attendees can also join other contests including the Online Japanese Song Cover and Cosplay Photo Marathon.
Gamers can enjoy participating in the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 tournaments being held on May 24 and 25, respectively. Numerous events will also be held throughout the weekend including freebie giveaways, mini-games, and more.
The Pinoy Otaku Festival 2013 “Pinoy Super Heroes Arise” isn’t just about celebrating Asian culture, but also about celebrating the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, or communal unity and volunteerism. Four outreach groups will be participating in the event as part of the Heroes Alley to support their cause, including the Chatter Care for Kids non-profit organization. Discounted tickets are available for those who donate to one or more of these organizations.
