1:1 Scale Model of Guges from “Appleseed” is in Production

Wonder Festival is a model exhibition event where all of Japan’s figure and model fans gather.

At last year’s winter event, Dainihon Giken surprised model fans with a full-scale model of Scopedog (almost 4 meters tall), a robot appearing in Armored Trooper Votoms. Now, they have announced that a new 1:1 scale model will be displayed on July 28 (Sunday) at Summer Wonder Festival 2013.

This time, Guges, a Landmate (robotic suit) from the sci-fi comics Appleseed is going to be made into a full-scale model. Appleseed is the major debut work of Masamune Shirow, a manga artist famous for creating Ghost in the Shell.

Besides the Dainihon Giken staff, Juu Ishiguchi, a manga artist whose work Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Re: is currently serializing in the comics magazine Gundam Ace, will also participate in the production. Dainihon Giken is currently making the model based on Ishiguchi’s renewed design of Guges. Look forward to this year 2013 version of Guges that will be unveiled this summer!
