On April 26, a promotional video for the TV anime Free!, which will begin broadcasting this July, was released. The anime is the newest work by Kyoto Animation, a company famous for such anime as K-On! and Hyouka. This adolescent story follows good looking high school guys who participate in their school’s swimming club and deepen their friendships.
The first part of the PV shows the relationship between the main character Nanase Haruka and his best friend, Tachibana Makoto. Next is a scene that shows Haruka being adored by his underclassman, Hazuki Nagisa. The second half shows Haruka’s rival Matsuoka Rin giving a telling look to Haruka’s classmate, Ryugasaki Rei.
Even more than the advertisements that focus on depicting male friendship, the combination of cute guys and swimming already has female anime fans anticipating this anime. Special articles on Free! are being featured in several anime magazines this month, so for those who are interested, check them out if you can.
As was previously announced, the main cast includes Nobunaga Shimazaki as Nanase Haruka, Tatsuo Suzuki as Tachibana Makoto, Tsubasa Yonaga as Hazuki Nagisa, Daisuke Hirakawa as Ryugasaki Rei, and Mamoru Miyano as Matsuoka Rin.
