On April 7 at the Nissho Hall in Tokyo, a special event for Kotoura-san called “The ESP Research Society’s Special Extracurricular Activities: It’s Kotoura’s Inside Story, Right?” was held. Amid the bustle of the sold-out crowd, the opening narration was performed by Hisako Kanemoto, the voice of Kotoura Haruka, and Jun Fukushima, the voice of Manabe Yoshihisa.
After the opening, MCs Kanemoto and Fukushima appeared on stage to talk, which not only made fans watching on web radio and Nico Nico Live happy, but also heated up the crowd in attendance. After this, the rest of the main voice cast including Kana Hanazawa, Hiro Shimono, Yukari Kubo, and Kikuko Inoue all took the stage together. A special message was read from officials from the town of Kotoura, which naturally collaborated with Kotoura-san, and special postcards were distributed to everyone in the audience.
The first part of the stage show was called “Let’s Watch Famous Scenes Together!” Six cast members were selected to give commentary on their favorite scenes while they played in the background. Even though the discussions digressed, they gave rise to laughter and heated up the crowd. The audience was enthralled as the cast members each discussed their thoughts on their characters.
Next, all the cast members took the stage together for the “Live Voice Recording.” For this part, each cast member picked a random role to perform by lottery. Strange combinations popped up left and right, such as Inoue as Kotoura Haruka and Hanazawa as Kotoura Zenzo (Haruka’s grandfather), making the whole venue burst out in laughter.
As the final part of the stage event, singer Megumi Nakajima enthusiastically sung the theme song “Sonna Koto Ura no Mata Urabanashi Desho?” which had everyone in the audience on their feet. Next up, Kanemoto sung the character song for Haruka called “Tsurupeta,” and to close it off, Haruka Chisuga sweetly sang the ending theme “Flower of Hope.” As the encore, the five members of the ESP Club (Kanemoto, Fukushima, Hanazawa, Shimono, and Kubo) appeared on stage once more and sung “The ESP Club’s Theme” to finally close the curtain on the two hour event.
