Every year, an event that showcases can-art called “Canstruction” takes place in Calgary, Canada. At this year’s event, an impressive art featuring Mario from Nintendo’s uber-popular franchise Super Mario Brothers wowed attendees. The art, which was made using roughly 11,000 tuna cans, was created to look like mario was jumping out a Nintendo 3DS’ screen. Due to its perfect representation of Mario, it was a huge hit at the event.
The work also features several characteristic items from the world of Mario, including the smiling clouds, coins, and a Piranha Plant, all made using different colored tuna cans. Check out the single red can used as the 3DS’ power light. The level of detail is amazing.
Other art on display at the event included a 3D version of the popular smartphone game Angry Birds. Every year after the event, the cans used in the art are all donated to the Calgary Food Bank.
