The Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel 30th anniversary photo exhibition was held from April 11-23 at the Pixiv Zingaro gallery located in Nakano Broadway. Fifty works were on display by the anime character designer Akemi Takada. Cute merchandise and reproduced prints were also on sale. Admission was free, and participants were also able to attend an autograph session.
Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel was the first magical girl series by Studio Pierrot, as well as Pierrot’s first original TV anime series. As such, this commemoration event was a must. The drama anime follows the everyday life of a girl and her swaying heart during a difficult time of youth. Even now, many fans say they haven’t seen a magical girl anime as fresh as Mami.
The art event strongly expressed the charm of Mami that has captivated girls for generations.
