Anime and Ad Campaign Among Digital Media Award Winners

The animated feature film Wolf Children and Mercedes-Benz Japan Co.'s "Next A-Class" promotional campaign were among the 10 winners of the 18th AMD Awards, the Association of Media in Digital announced.

The awards are presented annually to individuals or groups who have created outstanding films, animation, books, or video games, as well as to artists and performers and gadgets.

Directed by Mamoru Hosoda, Wolf Children won critical acclaim at home and abroad and became a huge commercial success with a box office revenue of 4.22 billion yen ($45.2 million).

"Next A-Class" is a short anime video created by leading anime studio Production I.G Inc. to promote the German auto giant's new generation of compact cars.

The Nintendo 3DS video game Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the Nintendo Wii console game Dragon Quest X, and the mobile game Puzzle and Dragons also received the award.

The Space Brothers series was another winner. It started as a manga series and was later adapted into an animated TV series and a live-action feature film.
