The perverted hero who wears women’s panties on his face is finally coming to the big screen! On April 13, a live-action movie based on the manga Ultimate!! Hentai Kamen will be released. The movie was created with the help of actor Shun Oguri, who is an outspoken fan of the series. Advance screenings of HK/Hentai Kamen will begin on April 6 at the Shinjuku Wald 9 theater.
Oguri also had a large hand in casting the young actor Ryohei Suzuki as the main character for the movie. Suzuki went through extensive training to gain the muscularity to play Hentai Kamen, which was his first leading role. It took over a year to gain 15 kg of muscle, shred fat, and sculpt his body into the athletic figure necessary for the role. He also had to do a lot of research into the original work to memorize all of Hentai Kamen’s poses and mannerisms. There is great deal of anticipation to see how Suzuki fares in the role.
The movie has turned into a big production work that is set to become a huge blockbuster. On arranging the screenplay, Oguri conveyed that he wanted to show that even though Hentai Kamen is an ally of justice, he is burdened with sorrow due to the uncontrollable urge to wear panties on his face. He also explained the importance of carefully filming the action scenes so that they didn’t misrepresent or poke fun at the eccentric scenes from the original manga. Oguri also has experience directing movies, and his earnest excitement for the movie is clearly felt from his comments.
There is great anticipation to see how Hentai Kamen, which is called “one of the best themed works in the history of Jump,” fares as a movie.
