The large maid cafe chain MaiDreamin is coming to America! MaiDreamin has announced that its first American branch will be opening in Los Angeles later this year. The news has picked up a great deal of attention since it was first announced on Dec. 14, 2012 on MaiDreamin’s official English Facebook and Twitter pages.
MaiDreamin is a popular chain of maid cafes that is based out of Akihabara and run by the company Neodelight International. Since it was first established in 2008, MaiDreamin has seen large expansion. Currently, the chain has five cafes in Akihabara, and other cafes in Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Odaiba, Osaka, Nihonbashi, and Nanba. With 11 cafes and 300 maids in total, MaiDreamin is the representative maid cafe.
The MaiDreamin cafes in Japan are not only popular with locals, but with foreigners as well. They are popular as fun entertainment spots for many travelers. Being so popular in Japan, the company put their sights on Los Angeles, where Japanese subculture is very popular. There is no doubt that the cafe will make many headlines both in Japan and America when it opens. Since restaurants like Hooters are popular in America, it was thought that a maid cafe could also be successful. Since America already has games, anime, manga, and cosplay, maybe maid cafes will become a new trend? If you happen to live in America, look forward to the arrival of this maid cafe later this year!
