The participants for Creator’s World, which will take place from Mar. 21-24 at Tokyo International Anime Fair 2013 (TIAF 2013), have been announced. Creator’s World is an event for up and coming young creators that continually picks up attention every year. The new creators that will be featured at the event this year are Yuka Imabayashi, Mariko Tokunaga, and Seiichiro Shimizu. These three were carefully selected from a group of eight registrants.
Let’s get to know each one of this year’s participants. At last year’s TIAF, Imabayashi won the Tokyo Anime Award in the Open Entry category for his work “Onishime Otabe”. He is also a research student at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2011, Tokunaga’s work “Utopian” was nominated for a Tokyo Anime Award in the Open Entry category. Recently, Tokunaga has collaborated with musician Furukawa Honpo and has produced various music videos. Shimizu rose to popularity quickly on Nico Nico Douga and is known for winning the Grand Prize at the 15th Student CG Contest for his work “Chugakusei”. Shimizu has been actively broadening his activities and expanding his work for business purposes.
In addition to this year’s Creator’s World, there will also be a Creator’s World Advance, which will feature 15 creators from past years. Creator’s World has become a place for creators’ works and personalities to shine. However, it’s filled with so much more than just works; it’s filled with hope and promise for these young creators.
