TOM Takes Up the Challenge! “Berserk Golden Age Arc: Griffith Rescue Mission” AR Game [1/2]

On Jan. 19, an event was held to commemorate the final chapter in the Berserk movie trilogy, Berserk Golden Age Arc III: Descent, which will be released on Feb. 1. At the event was a special augmented reality (AR) game based on Berserk. The game, called “Griffith Rescue Mission”, follows the story of the movie. Participants take on the role of the main character from Berserk and must solve puzzles to clear the mission. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

TOM participated in the event to bring you all the details.

First, everyone gathered in an auditorium to watch the opening movie that set up the premise for the game. The movie informed participants that Casca, Pippin, Judeau, and Guts were somewhere inside the event center and it was our mission to find all four of them in order to save Griffith. Next, a quiz was presented that gave hints as to where the four characters could be hiding.

Here is an example from the quiz: “What should you use if you are seriously injured?” Take a step back and try to think. ZPVTFJOPLPOB.” Um, what the heck is ZPVTFJOPLPOB? We understood the first part of the riddle, but we were lost on what “take a step back and try to think” meant.

After the quiz was over, it seemed like all of the diehard Berserk fans that were participating knew just where to look for the characters, and they dashed into the event center. All we could think as we were left alone in the auditorium was, “Could you give us a minute?”

At that moment, we wondered if we would even be able to clear the game...
