Since it began serialization in the monthly manga magazine Morning Two, Saint Young Men has gathered tremendous support in Japan, so much so that it is being made into an animated movie, which will begin screening on May 10, 2013. The movie is being directed by Rika Nezu, who also worked on Kimi ni Todoke, and is being produced by A-1 Pictures. The film will launch right after Golden Week in Japan, which is sure to help many people blow off the May sickness.
Saint Young Men is a religious comedy about Buddha and Jesus sharing an apartment in Tokyo. Even though the work is a comedy, the subject matter is intellectual and refined, which is sure to please those who dislike slapstick comedy.
A special version of the eighth volume of the manga, which comes with an OVA DVD, is now on sale. Why not pick it up and see if you like it? For those who do, mark your calendar’s for May!
