Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo has done exceptionally well since its release in November 2012, surpassing the momentum of the previous movie in the series and breaking through 3.8 billion yen in box office revenue. The theme song for the movie, “Sakura Nagashi” by Hikaru Utada, has also become well acclaimed since the movie’s release. On Dec. 5, 2012, the song reached number one on four charts on the aggregated USEN chart: J-Pop, Anime, J-Pop/Western Music, and This Week’s Requested J-Pop.
Total downloads for both the song and music video have topped 300,000. The song also placed first in the category of Download (Single) on the Recochoku Award for Best Song of November 2012.
