The second season of the TV anime Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, or simply Oreimo, is set to begin broadcasting in April 2013. The anime will air on ABC, Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11 to name a few.
Oreimo began as a light novel written by Tsukasa Fushimi. The first season of the anime was broadcast in 2010, and received a favorable reputation from fans. Continuing from season one, much of the staff for season two remains unchanged, including Hiroyuki Kanbe as the director, Hideyuki Kurata as the series composer, and Hiroyuki Oda as the character designer. The anime is being produced by A-1 Pictures.
Currently, all of the channels that will broadcast season two are broadcasting the “True Route Special Version”, a re-edit of events from season one that will prepare viewers for season two. Unaired episodes also began broadcasting in Dec. 2012, which is sure to be a welcome present for fans who can’t wait for season two to begin.
A Blu-ray box set of season one will be released on Feb. 27, 2013. The set includes all 16 episodes from Volumes 1-8 of the Blu-ray and DVD, as well as cast commentaries and behind the scenes footage. The set comes in a gorgeous digipak that includes four cover illustrations drawn by Hiro Kanzaki, who was also the illustrator of the light novels. The price of the box set is 29,400 yen (tax included).
