“Evangelion & Japanese Swords Exhibit” Opens in Mikawa and at the Okazaki Castle

Matching up with the release of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, the “Evangelion & Japanese Swords Exhibit” is now open at the Okazaki Castle in the Aichi prefecture as well as the Iyeyasu and Mikawa Bushi Museum. The exhibit runs from Dec. 1, 2012 to Feb. 17, 2013.

The exhibit features swords from the world of Evangelion. The highlight of the exhibit is the 18 new weapons from Evangelion that are on display at the two locations. The weapons on display were forged as actual swords using traditional Japanese techniques. The weapons include the 332 cm long Lance of Longinus, the Second Impact Dagger, and the Eva Unit headpiece.

The exhibit also includes a screening of a movie documenting the making of the Lance of Longinus, as well as a photographing area. Original goods for the exhibit along with more than 500 Evangelion goods are also being sold at the exhibit, which is sure to make fans happy.

Another Evangelion event, titled “Exhibition of Evangelion in Sapporo”, is also currently taking place in the three-story Sapporo Factory in Sapporo. The event is taking place until Feb. 11, 2013 and features rare items from Evangelion including cel images, storyboards, and proposals.
