May’n Launches from AFA into Overseas Markets

In 2008, May’n sang as the popular heroine, Sheryl Nome, in the anime Macross Frontier. In the blink of an eye, she became a huge topic among fans. Her song “Diamond Crevasse/Iteza☆Gogo Kuji Don’t Be Late”, which was released under the name “Sheryl Nome feat. May’n”, debuted at #3 on the Oricon chart. Even after that, her popularity continued to rise. On the recent Anime One ranking of fans’ favorite Macross songs, May’n’s songs monopolized the chart, firmly grabbing the #1-#12 rankings.

May’n is currently participating in worldwide events in order to strengthen her name in overseas markets. This year, May’n held a six-month long world tour called “May’n World Tour 2012 - Rock Your Beats”. The tour began on May 25, 2012, and included such countries as America, China, Germany, France, and Hong Kong. May'n has certainly been playing an active role worldwide. There have been no plans to establish a world class fan club for May’n up until now, but hereafter there seems to be a good possibility that one will be established.

The first time May’n performed live overseas was five years ago at Anime Festival Asia (AFA) in Singapore. She performed at AFA again this year, marking her fifth consecutive year of performing at the event. Now, her voice can be heard all over Asia.

May’n is making great strides in her career. She performed the ending theme to the TV anime Btooom!, “Ao Zora”, and the theme song for the PS3/Nintendo 3DS game E.X. Troopers, “Mr. Super Future Star”. As she advances worldwide, she continues to hold captive the attention of many Japanese people.
