This is an impactful shot. Just looking at this picture with these two big stars and thinking about them working together already makes me excited. The little details that were included for each of the characters made me picture the story behind the shot even more. I thought it was a great entry because of the way the strengths of the figures themselves were used to create this world for all of us.
Even though this picture is mainly a comedic shot, it does its best to stay true to the characters and their world. The photographer made use of many different items and parts to put this together, so it made me experience the possibilities that come with playing with figures. The shot is rich in nuance.
When I think about how this must be a performance that Ai-chan has been longing for with her senpai Hatsune Miku, I can really see how Ai-chan is giving her all to support Miku-san by getting herself pumped. Thinking about that made it an emotional shot for me. Also, upon closer inspection, I saw that Ai-chan’s one step in front of Miku-san and perhaps that’s also her personality showing? (lol)
Ai-chan is performing with the senpai she admires, Miku, in a completely white room. It’s so like her to be trying so hard, holding down the chord on her Les Paul guitar and getting so excited that she’s ended up one step in front of Miku-senpai. Both of their personalities were conveyed really well with this one shot.
At first glance it is bold and simple, but I can see that, from the setting to the poses, so much thought has gone into the details. Because of this shot, I had fun imagining what it would be like if they actually collaborated and I think it would be like this!
The picture is so high quality that I thought it was an official PR picture! It really brought out the details in the molding of the figure’s hair, and I thought the way her legs were positioned really accented the glamor of the character herself. This was the shot that grabbed my attention the most among all the studio-styled ones this time!
By placing Yunyun in a dark corridor with the tarantula but shining the spotlight only on her, light was employed really skillfully in this picture to highlight Yunyun’s panic.
The choices of the location and the coloring really brought out the figure’s texture and made him one with the nature around him, so much so that it brought out Usopp’s inner self really well. Just looking at it puts me in a soft mood.
While going through the entries, I kept meeting this Bakugo’s eyes. This shot really conveys his overwhelming self-assurance and his overflowing fire power. The effects used also look so real that I could almost see the flow of the swirling air.
I once used to work as a wedding photographer. Seeing this picture brings back memories of that time. It’s like the happiness in Holo’s smile reaches us through the screen and touches us. As a photograph, the use of backlighting, the increase in contrast, and the decrease in color saturation were used masterfully in order to bring us into her world. It’s wonderful.

This made my chest tighten. This scene might not ever happen, but at the same time I can see it happening. I was charmed by how a superb story was woven into the picture. The drops of water on the figures also allow the viewer to imagine what happened before and after the photo was taken. As a picture, the composition is great, and the colors are also well-balanced. As a whole, it’s well-executed and worthy of the Grand Prize.
I can feel the passage of time even though the subject is still, and there is a strength there even though it’s all casual. There are only 3 motifs in this shot - Hunter, the cat, and the wall - and yet it was able to tell this much of a story. I think that's incredible.
The disconnect between the original game and this picture made me laugh at first, but then the subject’s pose, the droplets of rain, and the backdrop among other details made me think that this could have really happened behind the scenes in the brutal world of Bloodborne. The fact that a single shot was able to express all of that was fascinating to me. Congratulations.
This is a shot of something that is at odds with Bloodborne: Hunter taking shelter from the rain in the shade of a tree, and in his arms, a shaking cat that he’s just rescued. It tells a story of before and after, and I think that’s wonderful.
While this shot made me laugh with how this would never happen in the original work, the undertone of loneliness within this warm scene also pulled me in. I feel like this might have shown me a new side to Hunter. Congratulations on the win!
