TOM started as a single Facebook account that shared information on Japanese anime and manga.
The page began as a humble effort in sharing pop culture from Japan with the world.Currently, we have grown to over 20 million likes on the TOM Facebook page and are one of the largest pages amongst Japanese media on Facebook.
Beginning with the Tokyo Otaku Mode Shop which sells figures, anime goods, manga, and more, and our original product development platform, TOM Projects - TOM’s efforts focus on the bright future of otaku culture.
The Tokyo Otaku Mode Shop is an online store that sells official goods and products all over the world. The TOM Shop delivers to otaku around the world officially licensed products through legitimate channels - no bootlegs or parallel imports ever. Otaku from over 130 countries use the TOM Shop for a wide range of items from figures to apparel. A wide lineup of unique products that reflect the pop culture and subcultures of Japan popular around the world is available on the TOM shop.
TOM Projects is the special project line for TOM-original products. With TOM Projects, we aim to create original items to delight otaku, putting out products such as the first scale figure of virtual YouTuber Kizuna AI who is blowing up in popularity both Japan and abroad, the top selling cushion based on the popular anime TenSura, and more. In 2018, we brought 29 original products to the world. This year also marks the 3rd anniversary of TOM Projects, and we will continue to widen our diverse lineup and bring forth items fans can’t wait to get their hands on.

That culture has reached a considerably high level of recognition through being spread among its fans globally, now even being recognized by awards and critical acclaim . Also, with Netflix producing anime-style shows, and overseas animations being produced in ways influenced by Japanese anime, it’s not a stretch to say that the culture’s influence is felt not just in Japan but has permeated worldwide.
