The Boy and the Beast Merchandise

The Boy and the Beast is another critically acclaimed animated feature directed by Mamoru Hosoda ( Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Wolf Children) and produced by his company Studio Chizu.

Starring Shota Sometani, Koji Yakusho, Aoi Miyazaki, and Suzu Hirose, The Boy and the Beast is the story of Ren who runs away as a little boy after his mother dies. Disappearing into the streets of Shibuya, he finds himself arriving in the Beast Kingdom where there is currently a dynastic dispute over who should inherit rule of the nation - the popular choice Iozen vs the powerful yet sullen Kumatetsu. The Beast Lord suggests Kumatetsu take on a disciple and unwillingly Ren begins training with him and getting the new name Kyuta in the process.

Returning to the real world, Ren meets fellow student Kaede and begins to address his inner turmoil towards his long-absent birth father as well as his relationship with Kumatetsu.
